2021 Contact Period Arrives
June 15th marks the first day that college coaches are permitted by NCAA rule to directly contact prospects in the class of 2021.
That means that phones will be ringing and texts will be coming in all weekend long. Inevitably, we'll see numerous new offers for the rising junior class in the coming days as well.
While the next few days will likely be an exciting time for a handful of those young prospects, it's very important for all young prospects to remember that nothing in the near future will be a lasting achievement.
Inevitably, there will be players who land early offers who fail to live up to them or can't meet the academic requirements to take advantage of them.
There will undoubtedly be even more players who don't get any offers, or even calls, in the next few days who end up becoming priority division I recruits in the next two years.
Perspective is the key, in all cases. For those who get some attention in the coming days, hopefully it will serve as positive reinforcement to keep working on their games, taking care of their academics, and making good decisions off the floor. For those who don't get any attention, it will be an even bigger motivator in all three areas.
