2018 Rankings Update

Rankings week in New England continues with an update to our recently released 2018 rankings.

The sophomore rankings debuted in late November after our staff spent the fall observing the Elite 75 Frosh/Soph as well as the Zero Gravity Fall Circuit. In the two months since, we've used the first half of the high school season to check-in on first year prep products like Putnam Science Academy's Eric Ayala and Darnell Brodie, and Loomis Chaffee's Nelson Boachie-Yiadom, who are now making their first appearance in the rankings as a result.

While the rest of the list remains unchanged - Brimmer & May's A.J. Reeves remains the top ranked prospect in the class followed by Northfield Mount Hermon's Nate Laszewski, St. Andrew's Cole Swider and Marlboro's Chris Doherty - there are two notable exceptions. Milton Academy's Cormac Ryan and Beaver Country Day's Shandon Brown have drastically exceeded expectations in the first half of the high school season and thus earned a bump on this list.

Ryan, who has recently grown another two inches as well, jumps all the way up to #7 on the list while Brown has moved up to #12.

A reminder to all young players - an early spot in the rankings should serve as nothing more than positive reinforcement for the opportunity you have in front of you. It is by no means a guarantee of long-term success. Inevitably, this list will change dramatically in the next two years and the players who approach the process with humility and dedication are almost always the ones to benefit the most when it is all said and done.
