2015 Summer Showdown - Recap

The eighth edition of the end of the summer league season event crowned its champion Sunday afternoon at Mass Premier Courts in Foxboro.  Mansfield took home the championship 63-54 by outlasting the upstart team from Milford in a hotly contested game between two Hockomock League foes.  With only five players able to compete, Mansfield was led by the scoring and on court leadership of rising junior guard Christian Weber (23 points).  Milford used a balanced attack with eight different players breaking into the scoring column.

Standout Performers

Christian Weber, PG, 2017, Mansfield HS – Weber is a terrific ball handler and passer who balances his scoring touch with almost flawless generalship at the point.  He does a great job of using his change of pace dribble to get into the paint and create plays for himself and his teammates.

Jay Christopher, G, 2016, Plymouth North HS – Christopher is an explosive athlete that makes plays in transition and off the dribble.  He used his length to create turnovers and his bounce to finish above the rim with authority on many occasions.  Scored 25, 28, 28 and 21 for PN.

Nick Timberlake, G, 2017, Braintree HS – This kid is a flat out scorer.  He gets it done at all three levels (three, mid range, rim) and has a pull up jumper that is almost impossible to defend.

Terrell Williams, G/F, 2016, Bridgewater-Raynham HS – Williams is a long athletic lefty that either scores or gets fouled on virtually every play.  He was a machine at times as he had the single game tournament high of 34 against Scituate.

Jordan Aylesworth, G, 2016, Scituate HS – Lefty shot it very well all weekend and mixed in some hardnosed plays around the rim.  Aylesworth held his own in a duel with BRs Williams, as he put up 26 points of his own in the game.  Also had 30 points against Ashland Sunday.

Austin Ward, 2016, PG, Plymouth North HS – Ward was electric in transition, kicking ahead for dunks and putting the ball in tight seams to make his teammates better.  He is also pretty adept at knocking down the three ball of the dribble.

Dwight Anderson, F, 2016, Milford HS – Deceptive forward can shoot the three and put it on the deck to get to the basket.  Also puts in a good days work on the glass and plays with an infectious toughness.

The Bigs:

Rodney Simon (6-7), C, Randolph HS – good touch on his jumper and hook; runs well too.

Christian Hon (6-6), F/C, 2016, Randolph HS – rebounds, runs and scorers with jump hooks in the paint

Rayshon Ward, (6-7), F, 2016, Plymouth North HS – an athletic lefty who can make a three and runs and dunks in transition

Kyle Swansburg (6-5), F, 2017, Mansfield HS – handles the ball around the elbow, passes it well and drives it to the rim

Mike Mahoney (6-8), C, 2016, Braintree HS – blocks shots, rebounds and scores well on put-backs
