South Kent Star to Big East

South Kent Star to Big East

It should come as no surprise that South Kent’s star swingman, J.J. Moore is going to end up in the Big East.  After all, just about every school in the conference has attempted to recruit the New York native.

Late Wednesdady morning Moore made his pick and made a verbal commitment to Pittsburgh and head coach Jamie Dixon.

Moore had recently trimmed his list to Pittsburgh, St. John’s, and Louisville but was also courted by Connecticut, Syracuse, West Virginia, Marquette, Providence, Rutgers, and Seton Hall.

Perhaps no player in the country has done more to elevate their recruiting stock in the last year than Moore.  A year ago at this time he had a reputation for being a big time athlete with a fairly raw skill set, and was hearing from Stony Brook and St. Peter’s more than anyone else.

But his skills quickly came along in a big way and after having a successful season last year at Brentwood High School and an incredibly successful summer both running with his New York Panthers team and also starring at the Reebok All-American Camp, Moore suddenly became one of the most widely pursued swingmen in the northeast.

Moore joins Cameron Wright and Isaiah Epps in the Panthers’ 2010 recruiting class and is expected to sign his National Letter of Intent before the conclusion of the early signing period.
