Prescott Playing Well

Chris Prescott’s high school career has been an up and down ride.  Three years ago he entered Northwest Catholic High School as a highly tout freshman.  Accolades came early and often as he shined at events like Metro Hoop’s Freshman & Sophomore Fall Showcase & Reebok’s Camp Next.

In fact, during the fall preceding his sophomore season Prescott was named MVP of Metro Hoop’s Freshman & Sophomore Fall Showcase starring in a field that included the likes of Tyreke Evans, Darryl Bryant, and Mike Rosario.

But as is often the case with young players, Prescott was a victim of too much hype too soon as he struggled to deal with the pressure that his early success had brought him.  Not only was there pressure to perform but there was also pressure to play a different position as he was often billed as a point guard despite the fact that he was more comfortable off the ball.

Fast forward to today and you will find a player who has come full circle.  After having committed to St. Joseph’s earlier this summer he is no longer burdened by the power of expectations or the recruiting process.  Instead, he is letting the game come to him and thriving in the process.  His recent performance at the Nike IS8 Tournament was a prime example of that as he led his CBC team to the semi-finals while earning all-conference honors with his sweet shooting stroke and improved ability to slash to the rim.

Now his game appears to be peeking at just the right time, as the beginning of his senior season at Northwest Catholic is right around the corner.  And with Prescott’s game and ability to lead a team reaching whole new levels that only spells bad news for the rest of the CIAC.
