NFA Star Announces Decision at Press Conference
The secret was kept well until RJ Evans had a chance to announce his decision to a room full of friends, family, and reporters at a Thursday afternoon press conference. While most of the people in attendance were aware of the fact that the decision had come down to Harvard and Holy Cross, very few people actually knew what the final outcome would be.
So when Evans finally announced that he was headed to Holy Cross to become a Crusader, it drew a good amount of cheers from all of those people who gathered to hear the announcement.
Following the news conference Evans spoke to the New England Recruiting Report and talked of how comfortable he was with his future coaches and teammates. He also discussed how important it was to be joining a program that annually has a chance to contend for a Patriot League Championship and consequent NCAA Tournament birth.
“I’ve always wanted to play in the NCAA Tournament,” he said. “So that was a big part of my decision.”
At Holy Cross, Evans will be joining a team that defeated Bucknell to earn a trip to the “big dance” last year and has been named the pre-season favorite to repeat their Patriot League championship this year.
The Crusaders are landing a 6’2” shooting guard who is best known for his prowess from behind the three-point line. But in recent months he has diversified his game to the point where he is now more than capable of getting into the lane off the dribble and creating his own shot.
Thanks to his impressive offensive skill set, Evans should have every opportunity to make an immediate contribution upon his arrival in Worcester.
