Chuku Makes His Choice

Kimball Union Academy forward Jesse Chuku will attend Lehigh University next year. Chuku committed following his official visit to the Patriot League campus this weekend.

Chuku is a long and athletic six-foot-seven forward with an emerging skill set.  He missed last season following a lengthy illness but returned in the spring to shine for Metro Boston on the AAU circuit.

Prior to arriving at KUA, Chuku was a standout on England’s 18-and-under national team in 2010 that traveled to Tel Aviv, Israel for the FIBA games.  A London native, Chuku played for the London Pioneer Club before attending to KUA.

KUA head coach Mike Olson said he believes Lehigh will be a good fit for his star forward.

"They did a great job recruiting him. Brett Reed is an excellent coach and I really feel like Jesse will reach his vast potential under his leadership,” Olson said.  “The Patriot League is a great level for Jesse basketball-wise. The combination of suburb coaching and academics was very important to Jesse."

Chuku is the third player to commit to Lehigh in the class of 2012, joining six-foot-seven forward Justin Goldsborough from Virginia and six-foot-five small forward Zach Stahl from Minnesota.
