UMass Lands South Kent 7-Footer

South Kent's post-graduate seven-footer Isaac Freeman was one of the best available big men left on the board in the northeast.

After making consistent strides throughout the year at South Kent, the Virginia native attracted attention from a variety of different schools at the mid to high-major level.

Following an official visit to UMass this weekend, Freeman decided to call it, pledging to UMass head coach Derek Kellogg.

The commitment is the second in the last week for Kellogg, after landing Western Kentucky impact transfer Derrick Gordon late last week.

Freeman is every bit of seven-feet and sometimes listed as tall as seven-two.  He was a major shot-blocking presence inside the paint this year for South Kent.  Offensively, he's made consistent strides in learning how to be a low post threat while also become more mobile and adding muscle mass to his frame.

He'll join a UMass class that includes Gordon and Tyler Bergantino, a six-foot-eight big man from Florida who will team with Freeman to help create the Minutemen's frontcourt of the future.

Freeman becomes the fifth member of this year's South Kent team to accept a division I scholarship, joining Ricardo Ledo (Providence), Laimonas Chatkevicius (South Carolina), Chris Ortiz (Kent State) and Zedric Sadler (Rider).
