This Week’s Notable Performances

Mike Marra – Northfield Mount Hermon (Northfield, MA):  After missing his first three-point attempt of the game, the Rhode Island native made his next ten (10-11 from behind the arc) and scored 36 points to lead NMH to a 90-81 victory St. Thomas More.  Earlier in the week he scored 23 in a win over New Hampton and 25 as NMH defeated Cushing.

Matt Gibson & Chris Picardi – Lexington Christian Academy (MA) & Ephraim Herskovitz – Beaver Country Day (Chestnut Hill, MA):  Junior guard Gibson (23 points, 5 three-pointers, 8 assists) and senior guard Picardi (31 points, 7 three-pointers) led Lexington Christian, but it wasn’t enough as Herskovitz scored 26 to lead BCD to a 66-60 victory. 

Romeo Diaz – Methuen HS (MA):  The senior swingman was on his way to a memorable performance before spraining his ankle in the third quarter and being forced to sit out the remainder of the game against St. John’s Prep.  With over ten minutes still left to play in the game, he had already scored 27 points. 

Jamie Spears – Georgetown HS (MA):  The freshman guard continues to put up big numbers.  Most recently it was a 27 point performance against Masconomet including six three-pointers. 

Chris Flores – O’Bryant School (Roxbury, MA):  He scored 32 points on Tuesday night to lead O’Bryant over Hyde Park 91-47 and improve to 11-0 in the Boston City League. 

Matt Bouvier – Austin Prep (Reading, MA):  Bouvier dominated the interior to the tune of 26 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 blocked shots as Austin Prep fought off Marian 64-58. 

Jon Karas – Glastonbury HS (CT):  With his team down at halftime Karas went off in the third quarter and hit four three-pointers in that 8 minute span to give Glastonbury a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.  Glastonbury needs one more victory to clinch the school’s first ever CCC North title. 

Shane Gibson – Killingly HS (CT):  Gibson absolutely went off against Windham and scored 29 points…in the third quarter.  He finished with a CIAC season high 51 on the night, in addition to 17 rebounds as Killingly held off Windham 79-73. 

Mike Myers-Keitt and Reuben Cabrea – Marianapolis Prep (Thompson, CT):  In a match-up of two class B powerhouses, Marianapolis Prep avenged an early season loss to Tilton and won their latest meeting 65-62.  Myers-Keitt had 28 points and 11 rebounds while Cabrea hit the go ahead three-pointer with 40 seconds left in the game. 

Ryan Olander – E.O. Smith HS (Mansfield, CT):  The Fairfield bound forward had his first triple double of the season with 23 points, 13 rebounds, 10 blocked shots, and 5 assists as E.O. Smith defeated South Windsor 54-48. 

Spencer Noon – Farmington HS (CT):  The junior guard scored 28 points, and his team needed all of them as they had to go to overtime to outlast Berlin 61-59. 

Mike Ryce – Choate Rosemary Hall (CT):  The athletic swingman scored 28 points including four three-pointers and several thunderous dunks in transition to lead his team to a 60-50 win over Trinity Pawling. 

Rundell Mauge – Putnam Science Academy (CT):  The big man dominated the game against Ocean Tide as he scored 44 points and grabbed 26 rebounds to lead his team to a 73-64 victory. 

Aaron Sabatino – Lincoln HS (Providence, RI):  He scored 34 points, including the 1000th of his career, and grabbed 12 rebounds as Lincoln posted a 67-58 victory over North Providence. 

Bruce Sobers – West Warwick HS (RI):  Sobers also hit the 1000 point milestone last week as he scored 19 points while pulling down 16 rebounds in his team’s 86-77 victory against cross-town rival Warwick. 

Steve Albano – Souhegan HS (NH):  Albano scored a game high 42 points but it wasn’t enough for Souhegan as they fell to Con-Val 47-42. 

Charles Abouo – Brewster Academy (Wolfeboro, NH):  The future BYU forward led the team with 18 points as Brewster held off three-time defending NEPSAC champions Bridgton 99-70

Cam Sutton – Kimball Union Academy (Meriden, NH):  The KUA point guard put up 23 points in a losing effort to Brewster but led his team to a hard fought victory over Vermont Academy a few days later. 

Ryan Martin – Maranacook HS (Readfield, ME):  The senior scored a game high 30 points as Maranacook improved to a perfect 16-0 on the season by defeating Kennebec Valley Conference rival Gardiner 73-50. 

Niko Acosta – Kents Hill (ME):  The New London, Connecticut native shined in his return to his home state as he had 19 points and 12 rebounds in a losing effort to Marianpolis Prep. 

Kris Noonan – Boothbay Regional HS (Boothbay Harbor, ME):  Noonan continues to dominate the paint as he scored 20 points and pulled down 8 rebounds to lead Boothbay over Lisbon 65-30. 

Marc Zaharchuk – Richmond HS (ME):  Zaharchuk is another big man who has been dominant inside.  On Monday he scored 15 of his 18 points in the third quarter while also bringing in 7 rebounds on the night to lead Richmond over Rangeley 51-29.
