St. Amour Setting Records

On Friday night, Missisquoi Valley Union High School senior, and reigning Vermont Gatorade Player of the Year, Matt St. Amour became just the sixth player in Vermont high school history to score 2,000 points in his career. He is the first player to reach this milestone since 1995 and joins Matt Johnson, Keith Cieplicki, Bernie Cieplicki, Josh Albee and Bruce Dalrymple in this elite club.

St. Amour hit the milestone in the third quarter of a 71 to 64 loss to an undefeated Vergennes squad.  On the evening, St. Amour scored 33 points, dished out 7 assists and pulled down 9 rebounds.  This is just one of many great performances this year by St. Amour who has eclipsed the 40 point mark in four different games this season and is currently averaging 31.1 points, 5.7 assists and 11.8 rebounds per game this season.

University of Vermont head coach John Becker was in attendance last night as St. Amour is considering accepting a recruited walk on spot at UVM.  He is also considering a recruited walk spot at Siena as well as NESCAC schools Middlebury and Tufts for next year.

St. Amour will be back in action on Wednesday night when Missisquoi takes on BFA St. Albans in the first round of the playoffs.
