New Hampshire Commitment Catch-Up

Green to Amherst

What has been rumored for several weeks and even months apparently only became official last week as Phillips Exeter post-graduate forward Connor Green committed to Amherst.  The Lord Jeffs went 26-3 this year before claiming their latest NESCAC championship.

Green came to Exeter from Bishop Guertin High School, where he graduated last year after leading the team to a state championship and claiming Gatorade Player of the Year honors in the process.

The six-foot-five forward is a pure scorer who is capable of getting hot with his jumper at any time but has also improved his quickness and athleticism to allow him to attack off the dribble and finish around the rim.  Green was named second team All-NEPSAC in class A this year after helping Exeter advance to the New England semi-finals.

Ketsy Staying Close to Home

Green’s former teammate and current Bishop Guertin senior Logan Ketsy also made a decision last week, committing to Plymouth State in the Little East Conference.  Ketsy’s decision was the first among NHIAA players in the class of 2012 according to the New Hampshire Notebook.

Ketsy picked up much of the scoring slack created by Green’s graduation this year at Guertin.  The six-foot-two swingman can put the ball in the basket in a variety of different ways but is especially dangerous as a coach and shoot player.

“Coach Novick made it very easy for me to come to Plymouth State,” Ketsy told the New Hampshire Notebook.  “He’s a very good guy…I went for a visit and liked talking to him.  He thinks about the game the same way I do.”

Roger Williams Lands Fahmy

Bedford High School big man Trevor Fahmy became the second NHIAA product to make a college basketball commitment when he pledged to Roger Williams College, located just outside of Newport, Rhode Island.

The six-foot-eight Fahmy led Bedford all the way to the finals of the NHIAA Division II tournament before eventually falling to Portsmouth.

Fahmy was arguably the most physically dominant interior player the NHIAA had to offer this year.  In addition to having great size and strength, his total game has improved a great deal in the last year, giving him improved footwork and assertiveness on the block along with the ability to step out and make the elbow jumper.

Two Sport Star Picks Gridiron

New Hampshire native and Proctor Academy senior forward Mike Lombard has committed to St. Anselm’s to play college football.

Lombard starred in both football and basketball for his two years at Proctor Academy, as well as during his previous stint at his hometown Pelham High School.

The two sport athlete saw college recruitment in both sports but ultimately opted to stay close to home at St. Anselm’s.  Lombard brought the same fierce tenacity to the hardwood, where he was known as a tough and hard-nosed competitor who could do damage from the interior or perimeter.
