Hoop Mountain Fall Classic - Event Recap

Mass Premier Courts in Foxboro was the place to be on Friday night as more than 180 players took the court to showcase their respective games in front of more than prep school and college coaches alike.  There was a great mix of players, from well-established scholastic veterans to up-and-coming young players who will be worth watching as the fall turns into the winter.

The following players stood out throughout the event:

Jesse Wims (2016, Worcester Academy)- Wims shot the ball well from the perimeter all night long, as his high release from his 6'8 frame makes it difficult to contest.  Wims also threw down one of the dunks of the night, as he drove baseline and flushed it with his right hand.

Jakigh Dottin (2017, Cambridge Ridge & Latin)- Dottin shined throughout the summer with BABC, and his improvement continued to be on display.  He had his usual aggressiveness in attacking the basket, but also showed (as he did early in the summer) an improving jump shot.

Andrew Galanek (2016, Sandwich HS)- Galanek was a nice surprise tonight.  He is a smooth wing player with good size standing at 6'4.  He finishes well in the half court through contact and in transition, and had several steals throughout the night by anticipating passing lanes.

Elliot Nelson (2018, Rice Memorial HS)- The Vermont native is very steady with great vision for a young point guard.  He has complete court vision, as at several points he spotted an open teammate on the weak side as he drove to the hoop.

Cian Sullivan (2016, St. Andrew's)- The big post-grad cleaned up on the glass, using his 7'1 frame to get great position.  He showed several solid post-moves going over both shoulders, and should improve as the season goes on and adjusts to playing in the highly competitive NEPSAC Class AA.

Ty Dalton (2016, South Kent)- Dalton hit some deep 3's over the course of the event, and also showed the ability to get in the lane and finish.

Eric D'Aguanno (2016, St. Andrew's)- The guard shot the ball well from outside with a picture-perfect jumper, and finished well around the rim today.  He rebounded better than we had seen this summer tonight, too.

Chad DiCenzo (2017, Pingree School)- DiCenzo gets better every time we see him.  He is solid with the ball, and excelled in pick & rolls tonight.  His patience and vision with the ball in his hands makes him a great point to play with.

James Wells (2016, Worcester Academy)- Wells got to the rim throughout the night, and was aggressive in going to the hoop, finishing with several two-handed dunks.  His left hand is much improved, as well.

Javon Taylor (2017, Beaver Country Day)- Taylor, committed to Providence, showed off his explosiveness as he cut through the lane at several points during the showcase.

Ryan Morrissey (2016, Plymouth South)- Morrissey had a very steady summer, and he continued it into the fall.  The Plymouth South product can really shoot the ball, and he plays the game at a great pace.  His skill set allows him to be versatile in how he can be used in the backcourt.

Quest Harris (2019, Lowell HS)- Quest Harris was a defensive pest tonight, showing the ability to lock down the other team's point guard for 94 feet.  Along with several other BABC 2019's (Kyle Layman, Judson Martindale, and 2020 forward Matt Cross), Harris was very impressive tonight.

Nick Timberlake (2017, Braintree HS)- Timberlake was one of the surprises of the night.  He is very quick off the ground, and threw down several dunks that got everyone in the gym's attention.  

Jake Rudolph (2016, Brewster Academy)- Rudolph showed off an improving skill set, proving he can be more than just a shot-maker at the next level.

Jake Ostrowski (2016, Clear Lake HS, TX)- The Houston native made the trip up to New England, and definitely showed flashes here tonight.  He has a very good shot, and is not afraid to bang down low against bigger players.  Ostrowski takes big strides in the open court (meaning he is able to cover more ground more quickly), and has a quick first step while being guarded in the half court.

Nate Duda (2016, St. Andrew's)- Duda showed steady improvement recently.  His athleticism is impressive, and he attacks the hoop hard in the half court.  He can also get out and run the floor really well.

Joshua Abrahams (2016, Worcester Academy)- Abrahams can really shoot the ball from the perimeter.  His pull-up game is excellent, and he is a threat to go off at any point.

Spencer Danforth (2016, St. John's Prep)- Danforth is a 6'3 guard who showed his athleticism on the defensive end; he has quick feet and showed the ability to find the open teammate on the offensive end.

Terrance Ewing (2017, Cambridge Ridge & Latin)- Ewing was active on the boards early and able to convert on several put-backs.

Hakeem Animashaun (2016, Dedham HS)- The 6'7 big man was very active on the boards and proved to be able to finish inside.  Animashaun is a raw but very intriguing prospect for the next level.

Ben Holding (2016, Dartmouth HS)- The 6'4 Holding is a solid, fundamental player who, while not flashy, always makes the right play with the right decision.  He has the ability to step outside and shoot.
