Copeland Staying Close to Home

Twinfield (Vermont) High School’s Chad Copeland, the highest ranked senior in the Vermont public school association, will be staying close to home to play his college basketball.  Copeland committed to Castleton State and head coach Paul Culpo earlier this month.  

Copeland is a six-foot-six forward with the size and skill to be a major mismatch problem.  He has the post game to thrive with his back to the basket but is also skilled enough to step out to the perimeter to make shots to the three-point line.  A scholarship caliber talent, Copeland ran with Lone Wolf on the AAU circuit and promises to be a big addition for Castleton State.  

Delorey Not Going Far

Copeland isn’t the only recent New England product to commit to a local school.  Holy Name (Massachusetts) High School’s star swingman Tyler Delorey has followed a similar path with his recent commitment to Anna Maria College.  

The six-foot-three swingman was one of the most dependable scores in the MIAA senior class this year, putting the ball in the basket in a variety of ways.  His versatility extends beyond just the offensive end of the floor though, as he is also an excellent defender and rebounder.  

Loomis Big Man Heading to NESCAC

Loomis Chaffee (Connecticut) post-graduate center Alex Perrone has committed to Bates College.  The six-foot-ten big man is a native of Natick, Massachusetts and graduated from the Dexter School before opting for a post-graduate year.  

Perrone began to make a name for himself on last spring’s AAU circuit as he stood out with the Bay State Magic.  It was more of the same over the summer as his impact rose in correlation to his improved conditioning.  Perrone was a three-sport athlete at Dexter and is also a well known musician, playing both the trumpet and piano.  

Murphy to Lafayette

Brunswick (Connecticut) School’s senior big man Billy Murphy will be playing his college basketball in the Patriot League after accepting a recruited walk-on spot at Lafayette College.  The Connecticut native ran with East Coast Elite on the AAU circuit.  

Murphy has a great combination of size and skill and projects as a face-up four-man at the next level thanks to his three-point shooting range.  He’s an ideal fit in Lafayette’s system and could very possibly see meaningful minutes before his career comes to an end.
